Once again hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart with Lady Gaga’s “Die with A Smile” and No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts with ROSÈ’s “APT,” Bruno Mars has evidently bounced back into the music industry.
“When I heard that Bruno Mars came out with a new song after years, I was ecstatic!” sophomore Elina Jacob said. “Then, when I opened Instagram and found out that he collaborated with ROSÉ, my jaw dropped. It was a collab the world didn’t know they needed.”
Since Mars’s debut single in 2010, “Just the Way You Are,” the artist created thirty-four songs, with eight of them making it to the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100. His most popular singles include “24K Magic” and “That’s What I Like.” He also has produced many songs in collaborations with other popular artists, such as “Uptown Funk” with Mark Ronson, “Die with A Smile” with Lady Gaga, and “APT” with ROSÉ from Blackpink. “Die with A Smile” has 329 million views on YouTube while “APT” has 418 million views.
For each night of his two-hour concerts, Mars earns around $1.5 million dollars with over fifteen thousand fans going to each concert. On December 18, 2024, Mars will begin his tour in Dobly, Las Vegas, which will last until December 31. Furthermore, Bruno Mars has revealed that a tour will take place in 2025 titled “The Uptown Funk Odyssey” which will fuse his original songs with more electric and rock music.
“I really want to go to Bruno Mars’s tour. He is an amazing artist and absolutely deserves all of the recognition that he has gotten over the years,” sophomore Emilie Ng said.
Born Peter Gene Hernandez, Bruno Mars is a Filipino-Puerto Rican American singer-songwriter, producer and musician that has accumulated over 134 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 39 million followers on YouTube since 2010.
Growing up in a musical family, Mars was often exposed to a variety of music including hip hop, R&B, and rock. Mars’s uncle, John Valentine, worked as an Elvis Presley impersonator, which is a role that a young Mars copied at the age of four as part of his parents’s band “Love Notes.” Mars also taught himself how to play the piano, guitar, bass and percussion.
With a lifetime of experience and proven success, Bruno Mars will continue to gain popularity as he tours the U.S. with his new material.
