On Thursday, February 13, the NHP seniors celebrated their annual Senior T-Shirt day as a part of their “Senior Week.” These T-shirts are an annual tradition that unite the seniors through their four years together and acknowledge their spirit in the Class of 2025.
“I loved Senior T-Shirt day,” senior Deborah Aderibigbe said. “It was really fun to see all my classmates matching and enjoying the day together, and I liked the color of the T-shirts! The day was also cool because it felt nice to represent the Class of 2025 and remember how far we have made it.”
The navy blue tee features the name of each senior on the back, symbolizing the unity of the Class of 2025. The front proudly displays the words “New Hyde Park Seniors” in bold letters, reflecting their significant impact on NHP. Throughout the school day, students have been spotted wearing the shirts and capturing moments with their friends, making it a trend to take photos together as a way to commemorate their final year of high school.
“The class officers met a couple times to come up with a design that would truly represent the seniors,” senior advisor Mrs. Psaros said. “They wanted to include each senior’s name as a way to recognize them as an important part of this journey.”
This senior shirt is not merely a collection of names; it represents the unique stories of each individual. It serves as a symbol of the friendships, challenges and memories shared by the seniors throughout their journey. For many, wearing the senior shirt is a moment of reflection, marking the close of their high school experience and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
“To me, the senior shirt is a reminder of my time at NHP, the memories I’ve made and the friendships I’ve created with others in my grade,” senior Lydia Jacob said.
The Class of 2025 reflects on Senior T-shirt Day with a range of mixed emotions: pride in how far they have come, nostalgia for their past experiences and anticipation for the future. As the year progresses, the seniors find themselves balancing the desire to make the most of their remaining time in high school with the excitement of what lies ahead.
“I really loved Senior T-shirt day,” senior Louis Masi said. “It really makes me feel connected to the rest of my classmates and I am excited to have it as a keepsake for years to come.”
