Rachel Jacob
EIC Evyn Roliz thanks the Chariot team for their contributions.
I am truly so grateful for the opportunity to have served as Editor-in-Chief in my senior year. Although my time at this school has been brief, my experience on Chariot is something that I will long remember and carry with me wherever I go.
When attending my first Chariot meeting, what truly struck me was the community. The Chariot is a group of talented writers, editors, photographers and artists who never fail to make every new issue exciting and enjoyable. Yet, they always remain committed, determined and passionate. The opportunity to be a part of this team is something that I will always treasure, and I’m so happy I have the opportunity to thank you all!
Suha: Thank you for being the absolute best Art Manager we could’ve asked for this year. You never fail to complete extra artwork that needs to get done, and your art is truly extraordinary. You are without a doubt one of the most intelligent, dedicated, talented and hardworking people that I know, and I’m eternally grateful for your contributions to the Chariot site.
Cartoonists: From the bottom of my heart, thank you. The Chariot would not be the same without you. Throughout the past year, your contributions have been recognized as extremely impressive by students, parents, staff and even greater organizations. You make our paper presentable, engaging, fascinating and distinctive. Your talent constantly impresses me, and I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you Lindsay, Nowra, Anna and Zahra M.!
Photographers: You are beyond essential to our paper. I appreciate all the times you’ve stayed after school to cover events, visited sports games on weekends to capture the perfect pictures, and even spent your free periods tracking down students and staff for portrait shots. You bring the paper to life. Thank you so much to Lindsay, Janice and Evelyn!
Junior High Writers: Although unfortunately overlooked, you guys are an amazing part of our paper! I’m always excited to see younger writers at distribution, and you often bring ideas that were previously unknown to the senior staff! Thank you for shedding light on the interesting, important and relevant junior high happenings!
Writers: I’m so grateful for you all. I’m so glad that you have decided to contribute to the paper, and I appreciate all the individual experiences and perspectives that you bring with you each time. Thank you for the hours you’ve spent writing, the times you took on articles you were excited about, and all the instances you had to step outside of your comfort zone to interview someone new.
Rasandi: Your articles have never failed to be intelligent, interesting and genuinely engaging. Being a quadruple publications warrior with you has been incredibly enjoyable, and I’m even more thankful to be able to call you a close friend. Your contributions to the social media page have also been vital this year, and I appreciate everything you’ve done to make the Chariot what it is today. I hope you continue writing in college and beyond because I can proudly say that I know you have a true talent for it.
Amy: It’s been so fun having you as a publicity coordinator this year. Your knowledge of social media has truly driven traffic to our site, and I’ve always trusted you to pick the best pictures for Instagram posts. Thank you for always answering my last-minute texts, spending late nights on call with Rasandi to perfect our posts, and being there to support me through it all.
Zahra Nuha: After your first visit to layout, I knew you had caught the Chariot bug. Your writing is truly impressive, detailed and well-researched. When I see that an article was written by you, I know that I’ll barely have to touch it. From rattling off great headline ideas at late night to discussing different angles for an article in French class, I know that you are truly passionate about journalism. Even more than that, you’re my best friend who has never failed to inspire, motivate, and encourage me. I hope The Chariot continues to be a place where you choose to share your genius.
Staff Writers: Being a staff writer can be a truly challenging job at times. From all the instances you gathered essential quotes to all the times you picked up articles at the last second, you have demonstrated grit, dedication and willingness to never give up. Without you, The Chariot wouldn’t be possible! Thank you so much to Obed, Fatima, Helai, Janvi, Jisha and Rebecca!
Dylan & Arjit: Thank you so much for being the leaders of the Sports section. It’s been amazing having access to all your knowledge related to both school and professional sports. Thank you SO much for all your contributions! You make a great team, and I’m wishing you all the best in your future endeavors!
Carmela: It was so nice being a fellow staff writer with you last year, bouncing ideas off each other, and attending our first Adelphi Press Day together. Since then, I’ve seen you really step into your role as a passionate and organized section editor! Your presence is immensely appreciated, and I’m so grateful you’re a part of our team!
Jacob: It’s really been a joy having you on staff this year. Thank you for your constant presence, expertise editing, and helpful nature. Watching you grow as both a writer and editor has been a pleasure, and I know that you will achieve great things (both within and outside of The Chariot) throughout the rest of high school!
Rachel: You truly do it all – writing, editing, photography, illustration. Not only are you multi-talented, but you are extremely reliable and fun to work with. I’ve never doubted your capability, intelligence, and raw aptitude. You have contributed so much to The Chariot that it is impossible to keep count! Thank you for all the hours you’ve dedicated to this publication because we truly couldn’t have done it without you.
Shohom: You are undoubtedly one of the most talented writers I know, and I’m thankful that I’ve gotten to know you better this year. (It’s also been nice having another person at layout who doesn’t know how to work the coffee machine.) Co-writing “The Price of Prestige” with you was definitely one of the highlights of my final year with Chariot. Thank you for your passionate, incredible editorials (especially the ones that make me cry) and all the rephrasing you’ve helped me with. You are intelligent, savvy, and sharp. I’m so grateful to have worked with you these past two years.
Darsh: You are an incredible editor, natural leader, expert multi-tasker—but above all, you’re a great friend. I still remember the first Chariot meeting I attended, and you were the one to show me how to select and format an article. Thank you for always picking up my calls, quickly responding to my panicked texts, and staying extra late when I needed your help. I have never had to doubt your dedication to this publication. Just as often as you poke fun at me, you’re assuring and encouraging me. I know you’re going to go very far.
Marco: It’s been an honor to have you as a Features editor this year. Thank you for the witty headlines, jokes during layout, and all the ways you make The Chariot feel like a second home. With everything that you’re constantly juggling, I’m glad that you decided to spend a chunk of your time working on the paper. Your presence at layout is truly palpable, and The Chariot would not have been the same without your insight.
Julia: You are the best Co-Editor-in-Chief I could’ve asked for. You’re the most dependable person I know. Whenever I’ve had something to bring up to you, you’ve already thought of it! It was a crazy journey getting through the first issue of the year—being on FaceTime the night before a Calculus test while trying to find out how to add pages to the website, working on articles for hours and publishing every article individually—but you were by my side the entire time. Looking back on it, I can see how the whole Chariot community has grown, evolved and found a new flow thanks to your incredible leadership. I know you’re bound for success, and I’m so lucky to have gotten to play a tiny part in your journey.
Ms. Mannle: Thank you so much for taking a chance on me. You have truly believed in me from the very beginning. Even when I was just a newly transferred junior showing up to distribution meetings, you made me feel seen, heard and encouraged. You always saw potential in my ideas, and you never viewed me as incapable, even with my limited journalism experience. Thank you for all the times you have fueled us with snacks, reminded me of the AP stylebook guidelines, and pushed us to come up with the best headlines. Without your trust in me, I would have never been able to come this far. Your leadership of Chariot has been the main inspiration for me to continue with journalism in college. I am truly grateful for the time we spent together working on this publication, and you are the very best adviser I could have asked for. You’ve always prioritized the connection of the team over the completion of the work itself, and that is a principle I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
