Three esteemed NHP senior student-athletes have chosen their collegiate home, all committing to pursue a sport for the next four years. Anthony LaSala, Matthew Muntzenberger and Liam Booth have each earned their place on the field, ready to embark on their athletic journeys beyond NHP.
Anthony LaSala is committed to play Division II lacrosse at Molloy University. Matthew Muntzenberger is committed to play Division III football at Hartwick College. Liam Booth is committed to play Division III soccer at SUNY Fredonia.
Anticipating their freshman year of college, these NHP student-athletes envision it as a period ripe with new experiences, excitement and opportunities for personal development. They look forward to establishing themselves through their continued discipline, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the sport.
“I expect a huge change from high school,” LaSala said. “Most athletes will be older, bigger and stronger but that’ll only make me better. I have to accept the challenge and work through the hardships.”
“In my first year of college football I can expect a lot of excitement, challenges and growth,” Muntzenberger said. “I’ll aim to establish myself as a valuable member of the team, improve my skills and contribute to the team’s success.”
“In my first year of college sports I expect to compete hard every day and put my best foot forward while learning about the program and making new teammates,” Booth said.
Dedication to their teams and personal goals helped them reach the next level.
“To achieve these goals, I needed dedication, hard work and discipline,” Muntzenberger said. “This involved rigorous training, staying focused on academics and building strong relationships with teammates and coaches.”
“I worked towards receiving these accomplishments by playing soccer year round on multiple travel teams and going to the field and training on my own or with my dad,” Booth said.
“Liam has matured as a player and even more so as a person over the last three years” Coach Bello said. “When the team saw the strong relationship between players and coaches, they knew that the captains were representing them and we all started moving in the same direction. The different experiences that Liam has had as a player and his strong confidence will make him an instant contributor for SUNY Fredonia. His field sense, ability to make his teammates better and his general determination are characteristics that all coaches want in their program.”
Passion is crucial for these athletes as it helps them improve. They train hard and put the time in to excel in their sport.
“Ever since I was little I had a passion for sports,” LaSala said. “ I loved to go to the field and train or even play messing around but I always was getting better. I’m grateful to be given an opportunity to get four more years.”
