The Class of 2026 celebrated their junior prom on Saturday, May 17 at K. Pacho. After a week of AP exams, the students were able to take the opportunity to create long-lasting memories by singing along to music, dancing and enjoying dinner with their classmates.
“Junior prom was a really great experience as this year has been stressful,” junior Abigail Alexander said. “I loved hanging out with my friends and dressing up before prom. Also, the dancing was one of my favorite parts as I felt like everyone came together and we all supported and hyped each other up. It was a night that was unforgettable and filled with memories.”
When the juniors arrived, they were first served appetizers and were given the time to take pictures at the photo booth. After an hour, they moved to the large dance floor, where glow sticks and LED glasses were distributed to add to the thrill. There was a mix of various music genres, from “Titi Mi Pregunto” by Bad Bunny to “I Love It” by Charli XCX.
“I thought junior prom was a lot of fun! One thing I wish they changed was the DJ. I wanted more throwback songs that everyone knows and can sing along to. Overall, though, I think it was really fun. I spent the whole night dancing and I made a lot of good memories,” junior Nayana Kabir said.
By the middle of the evening, the juniors were served their main course consisting of a fusion of Mexican and American food in a buffet style. The dining space was decorated with balloon banners, flower centerpieces and bright marquee lights.
“The room looked beautiful, the food was delicious, and the dance floor was full from beginning to end. Over 200 students attended, and each one left with memories to last a lifetime. We are thrilled that this culminating event of junior year was such a success, and we’re excited to carry that momentum into senior year,” Class of 2026 adviser Ms. Esposito said.
The Class of 2026 advisers and officers prepared extensively for the prom during the past few months, accounting for even the smallest of details.
“Planning the event was a major undertaking, but the officers of the Class of 2026 — Hima Binu, Mia Campuzano, Kuriakose Jacob, Darsh Mirchandani, Ariana Muhammad, Sanjna Nischal, Breanne Noguera, Milan Patel, and Jay Shah — rose to the challenge with diligence and ensured that not a single detail was overlooked. Mr. Laugen and I are incredibly proud of the officers — their hard work has not gone unnoticed,” Ms. Esposito said.
“A lot of planning and preparation went into making junior prom such a successful night! Our amazing advisers, Mr. Laugen and Mrs. Esposito, along with our hardworking team of officers, dedicated a lot of time and effort to ensure everything went smoothly,” junior Ariana Muhammad said. “We toured the venue, selected decorations, including balloons, light-up numbers, and table flower arrangements, and coordinated the collection of prom payments and contracts. Our goal was to make Junior Prom as fun and memorable as possible!
Whether it was dressing up, reconnecting with friends, taking photos to capture the moment or dancing to the latest hits, the juniors had many opportunities to enjoy new experiences at the prom.
“The junior prom was simply phenomenal. Special thanks to Ms. Esposito, Mr. Laugen, the K. Pacho Team and my fellow officers and faculty staff for coordinating this wonderful event!” Class of 2026 president Kuriakose Jacob said.
