The release of “Jujutsu Kaisen” Season 3 has been one of the most popular topics within the anime community, due to its highly praised animation quality, unique adaptation of the manga and its inclusion of long-awaited scenes. Many fans have had mixed opinions on the contents of the new season, with some praising MAPPA Studios and others criticizing their decisions.
“I’m a big fan of JJK, and I started watching the series two years ago. Season 3 is my favorite, due to MAPPA’s high-quality animation and the adaptation of the Culling Game, my favorite arc in the manga,” sophomore Vedant Patel said.
Season 3 of “Jujutsu Kaisen” is set to cover 84 chapters of the manga, which primarily includes the Culling Games arc. The Culling Games, constructed by ancient curse user Kenjaku, is a battle royale of sorcerers, meant to generate cursed energy. Yuji Itadori and his allies participate in the game with the goals of saving Megumi’s sister, who was forced to participate, and to unseal Satoru Gojo. This collection of arcs leads to one of the most hyped anime seasons released in 2026, with episodes generally releasing every Thursday at 12:00 pm EST.
“I REALLY, REALLY love JJK, it might be one of the best animes I’ve ever watched,” sophomore Evelynn Huang said. “I wait for the new episode release every Thursday at 12 p.m. It’s like a reward that motivates me to get through the week.”
Yuji Itadori is described as an athletically-gifted high school student who, inspired by his grandfather’s death, decided to do good deeds. After a series of complicated events, he finds himself in the world of Jujutsu Sorcery after swallowing a finger of Ryomen Sukuna. In Season 2 of JJK, the plot mainly covers the Shibuya Incident arc, which is a way for Kenjaku to gain the resources to begin the Culling Games, and to get rid of a major obstacle to his plans, Satoru Gojo.
In this new season, many new characters have been introduced, with the most notable being Kinji Hakari, the Restless Gambler; Hajime Kashimo, the God of Lightning; and Hiromi Higuruma, the prodigy defense lawyer.
“I’ve really been enjoying JJK, especially the Shibuya Arc and the culling games arc,” science teacher Mr. D’Ammassa said. “I have a feeling no one is going to get away from the Culling Games without getting hurt, with the sole exception of Satoru Gojo of course.”
Despite the hype around this new season, fans are worried about MAPPA Studio’s pacing. They speculate that MAPPA will try to compress the 84 chapters into fast-paced episodes, creating pacing issues. However, the majority of fans are looking forward to the anime adaptations of the anticipated major fights that occur during the covered arcs, like Maki Zenin’s violent brawl against the Zenin clan and Yuji Itadori’s confrontation with Hiromi Higuruma.
“I was excited to see my favorite character, Yuji, in his fight with Higuruma, and I’m looking forward to Megumi using his domain against the receipt guy [Reggie Star],” junior Alphonse Jaison said.
Ultimately, the weekly releases of JJK Season 3 have had an astounding impact on the anime community and have been described as having stunning animation quality and amazing adaptations of the manga. While it is uncertain whether MAPPA Studios will continue to satisfy fans in upcoming releases, the season so far has proven to significantly exceed community expectations.
