On any given game day at New Hyde Park, the biggest moments don’t just stay on the field; they live on through highlights, interviews and posts that spread across students’ phones within minutes. What began as just a final score or a quick recap has become much more, and athletes are now recognized beyond the sidelines.
“Honestly, seeing myself featured on NHPSN was amazing; it was one of the best parts of my week,” freshman varsity athlete Joseph Connolly said. “It’s exciting to have something you worked so hard for actually get noticed.”
At the center of this cultural shift is the NHPSN, a student-run platform that is changing how school sports are experienced, shared and remembered. NHPSN is dedicated to covering New Hyde Park athletics through interviews, player highlights and social media content. Its core goal is to give student-athletes the recognition they deserve while building suspense around school sports. By combining journalism with digital media, NHPSN captures small moments that might otherwise go unnoticed and shares them with a wider audience.
The network is run by students with a strong interest in sports media and broadcasting. Through consistent posting and engaging content, NHPSN has quickly gained social media attraction within the community, especially on platforms like Instagram, where highlight clips, player interviews and game-day updates capture student, parent and administrative attention. What started as a small initiative has grown into a recognizable presence in the school community.
Coaches have also noticed the impact NHPSN is having on their teams.
“It’s great for the players,” Coach Genovese shared. “They put in a lot of effort all season, and this gives them a chance to be recognized and celebrated.”
Beyond strictly individual recognition, NHPSN helps strengthen team spirit. By showcasing highlights, recaps and personal stories, the network unites students and encourages greater engagement at games. Athletes are no longer just competing; they are part of a larger, cohesive story that the entire community may follow.
“I get excited to hear the athletes’ opinions and I like getting updated on the scores of the games,” junior Silas George said. “I think it helps increase school spirit and it brings the students together.”
As NHPSN continues to grow, its influence shows no signs of slowing down. What started as a passion project is quickly becoming an essential part of New Hyde Park’s sports culture.
