On March 27, 2026, New Hyde Park Memorial held an exciting Spring Pep Rally that brought together the junior and senior classes and winter and spring athletes. The event was held from periods 6 through 9, alternating performances by performing groups, introductions of athletes and games between juniors and seniors.
Throughout the afternoon, each winter and spring sports team was called up to be recognized, giving athletes a moment to be celebrated for their hard work throughout the past and upcoming seasons.
“I really enjoyed seeing all the teams get recognized and the competition between the upperclassmen made it even more exciting,” sophomore Karina Hui said.
The performing groups kept the energy high with amazing performances and one of the last events was the Senior Showcase performed by seniors of the Twirlers, STEP Team and Romanettes. The performance was a way for the seniors to celebrate their last performance and leave a lasting impression on the community as talented performers.
“This pep rally was really meaningful since it was my last year performing on the step team. It was bittersweet, but I had so much fun doing what I love and being with my girls,” senior Abigail Alexander said.
Juniors and seniors participated in a variety of games ranging from over-under, hit the deck, cage volleyball and many more that kept the energy high and the audience engaged. After multiple rounds and games, the senior class came victorious and celebrated their win with high energy and a group picture with the whole grade, ending off the rally on a high note.
“The pep rally games were so competitive, a little chaotic, but kept everyone very entertained,” sophomore Hania Joy said, “It was so fun to watch!”
“In my opinion, the spring pep rally was a great success! It was a lot of fun to integrate the pep rally with the junior/senior challenge,” Class of 2026 advisor Mr. Laugen said. “As always, our performing groups were amazing, and of course, the class of 2026 was victorious in the challenge! It really seemed like everyone had a great time. I know I did!”
